Mysterious Red Object Fell from the Sky in Yakoruda, Bulgaria
In the town of Yakoruda, Bulgaria, on July 14, 2025, a hot red porous object fell from the sky and ignited the grass. Its origin and nature remain unknown.
The object landed on the grass in the yard of a private house and did not leave a crater, which suggests that it either fell from a low altitude or was very light. The grass at the landing site caught fire, and white smoke emanated from the object.
A local resident, Kyazim Mritsov, who posted a video of the object on social media, said that the substance resembled “a piece of coral” or rock and emitted a pungent odor. Water was poured on it to extinguish the fire, but the chemical smell only intensified afterward.
It is presumed that the object might be a meteorite (though no one saw it fall from the sky) or possibly so-called space debris (fragments of satellites or rocket stages).
The discovery of the strange object in Yakoruda has already been confirmed by the town’s mayor, Mehmmed Baklov, who stated that material samples have been collected for analysis.
“So far, we don’t know what it is. We still have to determine that,” said Mayor Baklov.
