Extrasensory Perception in Dreams Through Emotions and Symbols #6

DETECTION OF DREAM PREDICTABILITY

The author’s professional activity was organized according to the principle of fulfilling orders from people who contacted him through advertisements. It was never known how profitable the next order would be. Occasionally, dreams about horizontal movement occurred, and it was observed that sometimes certain symbolic moments in dreams reflected characteristics of future work that were unknown at the time of the dream. For example, the author might dream of an airplane whose flight is delayed. After some time, a client offers a profitable job, which can begin in a few weeks. The author goes on vacation, and after a while, dreams of a racing car that speeds but breaks down and stops. This dream is connected to the location where the work agreement was made. After some time, the author is informed that work can begin, but due to unforeseen circumstances from the client’s side, the work has to be paused. Later, a dream appears about traveling by public transport, tied to the same location. The work resumes but is not as profitable as initially expected.

Other examples include dreams of traveling in a tank over rough terrain, followed by work in new life circumstances, requiring overcoming additional difficulties. A dream of torn sneakers, which in childhood were associated with cars, is followed by an unprofitable order that the author has to refuse without payment after starting. Another dream involves a train, which one might miss, followed by an order that could be missed. A dream of flying on a spacecraft leads to the author’s creative activity, which is enjoyable and brings financial gain. Over time, such coincidences become more the rule than the exception. Before receiving profitable orders, the author dreams of driving a car or flying on a plane, and before orders with minimal profit, dreams of traveling on public transport. However, the profitability of the orders was never known in advance, nor were the timing and circumstances of events. Yet, the emotional impression from future events is transmitted very accurately in the dream, and the dream-event sequence never fails.

In some cases, the circumstances of the event may resemble those seen in the dream but have a different meaning. There were also other, rarer types of recurring dreams. Particularly illustrative were the dreams involving dogs. For the author, a dog symbolizes a friend, as the saying goes, “A dog is man’s best friend.” In one case, the author dreamt of greeting a tall, thin wolf walking on two legs. Later, a new neighbor with a criminal past moved in, who matched the image of the tall, thin wolf. The wolf, in this case, symbolizes the criminal saying, “Man is a wolf to man.” At first, there was a conflict with this person, but later, the relationship became friendly. In another case, the author dreamt of a bulldog. Shortly afterward, a large person approached the author, who became a regular client with similar interests and worldview. In yet another case, the author dreamt of angry dogs, followed by working with old acquaintances with whom relations were strained. In general, the dog in dreams became a symbol for friendship or partnership. The author also experienced dreams involving killing someone. After such dreams, financial disputes were resolved in the author’s favor. Killing was likely associated with biblical words about how not paying a worker is like killing him.

A particular interest lies in a dream consisting of various symbols, where, after an incomplete awakening, the author was able to return to the dream and change the situation. In the dream, the author was ascending stairs in a building but at some point descended into a basement where something terrifying was found, leading to awakening. However, because the awakening was not complete, the author returned to the dream, where two dogs were killed in the basement. During this period, the author dedicated free time to a certain research, but later, a financial dispute unexpectedly arose at work with two business partners regarding liability for a loss. The situation became tense but was unexpectedly resolved in the author’s favor. Neither the cause of the problem nor its sudden resolution could have been foreseen.

Particularly interesting was a dream from the autumn of 2021. In this dream, the author’s teeth began falling out in abnormally large quantities, without stopping. Then, part of the apartment floor began sinking beneath the author’s feet, and the dream became lucid. At that moment, the thought appeared to stay calm in order to balance things, after which the author woke up. The falling teeth were associated with a superstition from childhood that predicted the death of relatives. Previously, the author had dreamed of losing a tooth but never saw any direct connection to real events, except for rare coincidences when the author learned of the death of a relative or acquaintance after such dreams. In the case of this dream, where an endless number of teeth fell out, it was hypothesized that a sharp increase in death rates from COVID might follow, as it occurred during the pandemic. However, a few months later, the war in Ukraine, where the author lives, began. The most worrying moment for the author was when a bomb fell not far from his house. The house, built from thin concrete slabs, swayed, and on the fifth floor, where the author lived, it felt exactly as it had in the dream—the floor seemed to sink beneath his feet. This moment was predicted with remarkable accuracy in the dream. Although the war’s start was unexpected for the author, there had long been an unconscious sense that it might begin. However, the bomb’s fall and its impact on the building, as well as the course of the combat actions, were entirely unpredictable.

Other occasional dreams also seemed to predict future situations. These dreams lacked systematization, and it wasn’t clear whether to interpret them literally or metaphorically, but after the event, one of the two interpretations—or a combination of both—could apply. In all cases, the most accurate correlation was the emotional aspect of the event, which matched the emotional intensity and memorability of the dream.

It is highly likely that all the dreams, including those not decoded, were also predictive.

HYPOTHESIS

This result suggests that the human brain may have a hidden function to unconsciously predict the future, possibly based on unlimited information perceived extrasensorily. This perception might extend beyond interactions with only living beings and span the entire cosmos. In 1924, A. L. Chizhevsky, in his work Physical Factors of the Historical Process, showed the connection between societal activity and solar activity using statistical data. This phenomenon is still not studied and may hold answers to many questions about the human psyche, as well as provide the opportunity for long-term predictions.

However, extrasensory perception and forecasting alone do not fully explain the meaning of predictive dreams. Despite the ability to foresee the future, the author has never been able to change the course of events, except in cases where this was done in a lucid dream. Thus, the dream allowed the author to morally prepare for the future, but not to influence it. Although dreams often consist of disjointed memories, they can be viewed as a model of emotional experiences assembled from available materials. After all, it is the emotions conveyed in the dream that define the quality of the experience, not the circumstances, which can be perceived differently by different people. Perhaps this is because fully recreating the future in all its details is extremely energy-consuming and occurs only in exceptional cases. It turns out that the decision of what to do in a predictable future is often made unconsciously in the dream, and the person inevitably follows the rails of fate, even if they lead to destruction. Or, if the person is conscious in the dream, they may be the master of their fate, regardless of the circumstances. The answers to these questions are yet to be found.

EXPERIMENT ON DREAM PREDICTION

To experimentally determine the predictive accuracy of dreams, the following experiment could be conducted. A group of participants should be selected, and they would keep a dream journal and a journal of daily life events for at least a month. For each dream and event, the emotional significance (good, bad, neutral) and intensity of emotions on a three-point scale should be noted. A psychological profile could be created for each participant, and over the course of the experiment, an attempt could be made to determine what associations arise from certain dream images. The result should be assessed based on criteria such as the match between the event and the symbolic image and emotional significance of the dream. It is important to note that the most vivid dreams might be connected to events that occur much later after the experiment, and participants may also omit some dreams and events that are too personal. Therefore, the most telling would be recurring dreams and less intense dreams about everyday life, viewed within the continuity of dreams.

TELEPATHY EXPERIMENT

Typically, experiments to detect telepathy focus on attempts to establish the receipt of specific information that can be verified. The author does not rule out such a possibility but believes that a much more definitive and clear result would come from detecting the unconscious response of one person in a dream to the emotional state of another person. It should not be difficult to establish this by recording synchronous brain activity bursts from two people, one of whom is sleeping, while the other is engaged in active thought that causes emotional excitement. Such a connection will probably not appear in every case, and it may depend on the initial emotional connection between these people. They should be close friends, or recent acquaintances who could potentially become friends. Furthermore, the result might depend on a predisposition to extrasensory perception and other unknown factors that affect a person differently at different times, such as weather.
