Public interest in the allegedly alien mummies from Peru is growing, and now U.S. Congressman Tim Burchett, a Republican, has taken an interest in their study.
Burchett, who has a keen interest in ufology, has previously made headlines for his criticism of the U.S. government’s strict secrecy surrounding anything related to UFOs.
According to Burchett, he plans to assemble “the most important people in the world” to study the three-fingered Peruvian mummies. The research will be conducted at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville to ensure results that are “independent of the federal government.”
Although Burchett does not explicitly call these mummies alien, given his interest in UFOs, it is likely that he considers them to be, which is why he seeks more convincing results than those gradually released by the team of Mexican ufologist Jaime Maussan.
Previously, the “high point” in the case of the three-fingered Peruvian mummies was the display of two of them in the Mexican Congress in September 2023, an event orchestrated by Jaime Maussan.
“I am happy to assist you… I would also be interested in involving some people in the analysis of these bodies who are independent of the federal government… We will be looking for the most important people in the world for this,” Burchett told Maussan’s team.
It is worth noting that the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Burchett’s hometown, is home to an internationally recognized forensic anthropology center known as the “Body Farm.”
Last year, the university received two large grants to study the possibility of extracting high-quality DNA from old and heavily decomposed remains. It is believed that the Peruvian mummies will be studied as part of the same program.
