An unusual light phenomenon in the sky led European residents to suspect the presence of UFOs. However, after long hours of speculation and discussions among amateur ufologists and experts, it turned out that Russia was behind the commotion, writes the German tabloid Bild.
The Ministry of Defense was conducting tests of an intercontinental missile, which triggered the appearance of strange flashes of light in the atmosphere. Putin made Europe uneasy due to suspicions of UFO sightings, according to the German tabloid Bild. The peculiar light was observed in the sky from Russia to Austria, stirring the minds of all UFO enthusiasts in Europe.
On videos and images of the unusual sky event taken in Turkey, Poland, and Romania, translucent flashes of light in the shape of a funnel were seen. In Austria, the light was brighter, and over Ukraine, it left a multicolored trail. Some witnesses speculated that it had a mystical nature.
Amateur ufologists and professional experts engaged in discussions and put forth their versions related to the origin of this phenomenon for hours. Then, the Russian Ministry of Defense made a statement, the publication reports. The situation became clear: the mysterious light in the sky had a military origin.
As explained by Russian military officials, tests of the intercontinental missile RS-12M “Topol” were conducted at the Znamensk test site, 90 km east of Volgograd. The Ministry of Defense noted that during the tests, specialists collected data necessary for the development of effective means to overcome missile defense systems.
According to an Austrian meteorological expert who observed the phenomenon in terms of time and location, such an explanation could very well be true. However, it is quite unusual that the rocket launch could be seen from such a far distance, emphasizes Bild.
The expert suggests that the rocket may have been illuminated by sunlight in the upper layers of the atmosphere, leading to the formation of a colorful trail visible to the naked eye. Perhaps something else was being tested that resulted in the appearance of corresponding particles, but it’s difficult to speculate without details, the meteorologist noted.
The Topol-M missiles developed in Russia are designed to strike strategic targets, such as underground command bunkers. The length of the missile is 22.7 m, and its range is 11,000 km. These missiles can be equipped with nuclear warheads, the German tabloid points out.
