This is a continuation of the story about the alleged mummified bodies of aliens from Peru, which have been under investigation by a team of experts led by ufologist Jaime Maussan for several years.
One of the experts on his team was former Colorado state prosecutor Joshua McDowell. Recently, journalists reached out to him to find out if there were any new developments regarding these mysterious mummies.
McDowell and three other forensic experts from the U.S. are currently examining the Peruvian mummy nicknamed “Maria.” They have discovered that, in addition to the general oddities, the mummy has “non-human fingerprints.”
The discussion concerns papillary patterns—skin ridges on the tips of fingers that can be used to obtain fingerprints. These patterns are unique to each person and are present in almost everyone, with very few exceptions.
In addition to humans, papillary patterns are found on the fingers of primates and prosimians like lemurs. They do not appear in any other living creatures.
“We did not see any loops or whorls on the fingerprints of her hands and feet. Maria’s fingerprints did not match human fingerprints. I am a former prosecutor. I am a criminal defense attorney. I have seen many fingerprints. And these were not classic fingerprints,” McDowell said.
“Most of her body is covered in diatomaceous earth, but on the exposed fingers, the epidermal ridges were mostly straight,” he added.
However, McDowell is not ready to directly label “Maria” as an alien. He speculates that such unusual fingerprints might have arisen due to the mummification process:
“It might somehow be related to the way her skin was preserved. It is very strange,” he said.
Other American experts working on “Maria” include the city coroner from Denver, a forensic anthropologist from the Maryland state medical examiner’s office, and Dr. John McDowell—a retired forensic odontologist and professor from the University of Colorado.
The latter is, by the way, Joshua McDowell’s father and previously worked on identifying the victims of the September 11, 2001, attacks at the World Trade Center, using dental records.
Joshua McDowell emphasized that “no determinations have been made regarding the origin of the samples at this time,” adding that his team continues to work on uncovering the true nature of these “alien mummies.”
