On November 13, 1974, Ronald DeFeo took a rifle and shot his entire family in a house located at 112 Ocean Avenue, in the town of Amityville, USA. The investigation of this horrific crime led to what is now known as the “Amityville Horror.”
This house, inhabited by something very evil and supernatural, did not remain empty for long, and just two weeks after the mass murder committed by DeFeo, it was acquired by new owners – the Lutz family with three sons. Moreover, the house was sold for only $80,000, with a huge discount.
They couldn’t live in the cursed house for more than two months, hastily fleeing from there on January 14, 1975. Later, they repeatedly recounted witnessing numerous paranormal phenomena in this house.
Recently, on BBC2, a documentary film titled “Amityville: The Origin Story” was released, featuring 52-year-old Christopher Lutz, the middle son of the Lutz family. During their stay in the Amityville horror house, he was only 6 years old, but what he saw back then he remembered for a lifetime.
“I was lying on my bed and looking down the hallway, and right outside my door was a figure. It looked like a shadow, except it didn’t have legs touching the ground. As I watched, it moved closer to me, and I froze,” Christopher Lutz recalls.
In addition to ghosts, the Lutzes constantly felt strange odors, cold drafts everywhere, and objects in the house would periodically move on their own. Later, they released a book about their misadventures, which was adapted into a horror film.
Christopher remembers that shortly before their escape, his parents invited a priest to the house to perform a cleansing ritual.
“The last week we spent there was the worst. A priest came to bless every room in the house. And we heard during this a choir of voices loudly asking, ‘Could you please stop?'”
The priest who visited the house remembers that during the ritual he himself heard a disembodied voice shouting at him, “Get out!”
During this same cleansing process, an incident occurred with Christopher’s older brother named Danny, which could be interpreted as a ghostly attack on the child.
“I remember they made us go around the house and open all the windows, and what they were trying to do was essentially an exorcism. And as they were going around, saying these prayers, then when we were told to close the windows, the incident with Danny’s hand happened.”
A heavy window frame with glass mysteriously struck Danny’s hand, causing him intense pain. My mom, trying to remove the glass from his hand, took more time than necessary, and Danny screamed in pain.
According to the Lutzes, the house was inhabited by the ghost of Ronald DeFeo, who after his death became another part of the evil concealed in this house.
