Two days ago, a resident of the American state of Arizona wrote in a local community about an unusual phenomenon he witnessed that day.
It happened when he went hiking in the Superstition Mountains, which have been shrouded in myths and legends about lost Indian gold and curses for those who find it for at least three centuries.
The man noted that the trail he was about to take was 2 miles long, and when he was about half a mile from the base of the mountains, he went to a signpost to check if he was on the right path.
Suddenly, he heard a sound nearby, as if something had fallen and hit the rocks hard. Immediately after that, from the same direction came a strange “squelching” sound, as if from some large animal.
The man thought that perhaps the animal was not a predator and was not dangerous, but he picked up a rock just in case and slowly walked back to the trail. Then he called his girlfriend, but while he was on the phone with her, the weather began to deteriorate rapidly. A strong wind picked up and the temperature dropped sharply.
It started to rain, and the man saw that a severe storm was heading his way. He moved faster along the trail. Every minute or two, he looked back to see if the storm was catching up with him.
Suddenly, he saw a strange flying object to his right, which appeared to him to be like a kite. The object was glowing brightly, as if made of aluminum foil, and emitted a blue light.
The object was about 100 feet (30 meters) away from him and suddenly shot up into the sky, disappearing into the clouds within 3-4 seconds.
At first, the man thought it looked like someone on the ground was shining a very powerful spotlight or flashlight and then pointed it up, which is why the light circle moved into the clouds so abruptly. But then he realized that such a spotlight or flashlight would have to be extremely powerful to be visible in the clouds at such a high altitude.
Now he suspects that he might have seen ball lightning and is glad that he managed to complete the trail before the storm hit.
“Honestly, I have no idea what it was. I don’t believe in ghosts, aliens, or anything like that. To me, it looked like a flashlight, but there were no other people on the trail, and I even yelled ‘Hello’ in the direction it was coming from.
Also, the glow was coming from 50-100 feet away from the trail, and this area is not known for camping (so it was unlikely there were tourists). And I did not see the glow again afterward.
It didn’t make any sounds, and the whole thing lasted, maybe, a total of 20 seconds. I didn’t feel my hair stand on end, but there was definitely some kind of charge in the air,” the tourist wrote in the comments to his post.
